Angel Sundays of Advent
This year, every Advent Sunday, a fragrant Advent market with a rich cultural accompaniment will open on the castle hill. In addition to the gourmet market, visitors can enjoy an afternoon programme on the angel stage. In addition to small singers and Litomyšl choirs, well-known performers such as the Neřež Trio, Pavel Helan and Thom Artway will also perform.
During the first to third Sundays of Advent there will be creative workshops for the whole family, puppet shows, the traditional exhibition of nativity scenes and festive lighting in the Piarist church. In the regional museum you can entertain your children in the large playroom and see the retro exhibition Beauty of Nostalgia or Litomyšl in photographs from the 1970s.
On the second Sunday of Advent in the Piarist church we will light up a huge laser cross, whose green rays pass through the main and transepts of the church. We will enjoy this spectacle on the occasion of a festive thanksgiving to the donors, thanks to whom the town of Litomyšl was able to purchase the work of art. The authors of the Luminous Cross are Václav Cigler and Michal Motyčka, who created a new sacral decoration for the church after its major reconstruction in 2011-2015.

On Advent Sundays you have the chance to get original and tasty Christmas gifts. In addition to the vendors at the Advent Market in front of the Piarist College, you can visit the large food and design markets in the halls of the Castle Brewery. Litomyšl's Kreativ will offer products from Czech artists on Saturday 2 December from 9am to 5pm. A gourmet festival with a showcase of various delicacies will take place throughout the second weekend of Advent and will be open from 10 am to 8 pm. The Advent MINT market will be open on the third Sunday of Advent on 17 December from 10 am to 6 pm.

Pre-Christmas and New Year concerts
The pre-Christmas concerts will get us in the mood for the festive season. On Wednesday 13 December you can experience true black gospel in the Castle Riding Hall. Roderick Gilles and Grace are coming all the way from Washington, D.C. to show us what it can be like in church during Mass. And believe me, it's an extraordinary experience...
Lucie Bílá will be visiting us with her White Christmas Advent tour, performing at the Piarist Church on Thursday 21 December.
After the New Year we can look forward to two beautiful concerts. If you haven't sorted out your Christmas presents yet, tickets are the perfect solution to give an experience you won't forget.
On the first Saturday in January, Sing Sing Quintet will perform - a new musical project of five well-known Czech singers will bring their listeners favourite melodies from world-famous musicals or award-winning Czech composers.
On Friday, 26 January 2024, the baroque vaults of the Piarist Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross will resound with the great voice of Vojtěch Dyke and his piano accompaniment.
Advent weekend in Litomyšl
If you want to enjoy Advent in Litomyšl to the fullest, stay for the whole weekend. Concerts, exhibitions, great cafes, a sauna and a swimming pool - you can't do it all in one day.
Hotel Zámecký pivovar is an interesting example of modern reconstruction of historical architecture designed by the famous Czech architect Josef Pleskot. What's more, the brewery building is located right in the centre of Advent, but still offers a peaceful stay.
