Who doesn't love road trips. Here are some tips that will stand up to a tight family budget

Can't wait to go for a leisurely walk with friends or a trip with the family? It's no wonder, we probably all feel the same way. However, many of us have also been hit financially by the coronavirus epidemic, and some major travel is inevitable. That's why we've picked out a few tips on how to make your weekend more enjoyable, change your surroundings and not spend too much in the process.

The city of Litomyšl is an experience in itself, just stay here, sit on the square with ice cream, walk past the monument to Bedřich Smetana and Alois Jirásek, be amazed by the Baroque monumentality of the Piarist church and climb up to the Renaissance jewel of the Litomyšl castle. The monastery gardens or the castle park are perfect for picnics and lounging in the grass. You can bring your own refreshments, or they can be prepared for you at the café window in the castle coach house.
The coffee is already smelling and the sun is warming you up while your children play by the stream that runs through the park, see? On your way back around the castle, don't forget to stop at the free maze, which is dedicated to the history of the castle, is truly interactive and not just for children. The maze is part of the Litomyšleni programme and is located in the castle stables.

If you find it interesting, you may want to see other habitats that are similarly fun and also completely free. The first choice for you will be the two-storey playroom in the nearby Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, where adults are often entertained for dozens of minutes. If you're already in the temple, you shouldn't miss the chance to climb to its higher floors and get up to the unusual observation deck between its towers. This is the best situated, publicly accessible lookout tower in Litomyšl. Apart from a magnificent view of the castle, you can also see the paradise courtyard of the Piarist college, the most important buildings of the town, the monastery gardens and the horizon.

On the way down, you can count the steps, but also stop about halfway up, where the entrance to the emporium is located. These are actually balconies of sorts in the interior of the church, offering unexpected views of the Baroque architecture. If you go past the organ to the other side, you will be able to enter the steel footbridge, which literally floats in the open space under the vault of the church. Along the way, you will be guided by the rare collection items of the Angels on the Hill exhibition.

Entrance to the upper floors of the church is charged at 60 CZK per person, family admission is 140 CZK.
