LITOMYŠL / Teachers and principals of primary schools from all over the Czech Republic will come to the Castle Hill in Litomyšl again after a year. From 23 to 25 February 2020, the 4th edition of the Kick Up Your School education festival will take place here. Some of the festival's programmes are open to the general public, so everyone can come for a good dose of inspiration. The festival will once again feature interviews filmed by the DVTV internet television channel, the well-known marketing guru Martin Jaroš will come from far away Qatar to talk about education, and Dieter Schwartz will come from Germany to lecture on intuitive pedagogy.

The whole festival starts on Sunday with short inspirational lectures. One of the speakers this year will be Martin Jaroš, a marketing expert who is the author of a number of well-known TV commercials and who will also lead a workshop at the festival. Ondřej Kania, who is the CEO of JK Education and founder of the Prague Humanities High School and two American schools in the Czech Republic, will also speak. He is one of those who is not afraid to speak out about his opinion on Czech education and in doing so, he is forging his own path. Vladimír Dobeš, Sylvie Lauder, Petr Daniš and Jan Hábl will present their views on education in twenty minutes.

Each year, the Monday lecture block features an expert from abroad. This year, Dieter Schwartz, a long-time Waldorf primary school teacher and university teacher, is coming from Germany. He will be lecturing on intuitive pedagogy at the festival. Michal Orság will explain what formative assessment is and that it is definitely not just about writing verbal evaluations instead of grades. The Finnish expert Susanna Bäckman, who started a series of public appearances across the Czech Republic with her performance at the 3rd edition, will also come again. Participants of the conference can also look forward to Hana Košt'álová, Ondřej Bárta, Pavel Kraemer, Michal Vybíral, Renata Trčková, Petra Dočkalová and others. The detailed programme is gradually published on the website www.nakopnetesvojiskolu.cz.

This year, the internet television DVTV will be the icing on the cake. The presenter Daniela Drtinová will talk to her guests about education. And since the selection of the guests is completely in the direction of DVTV, the names of their guests will be a little secret until the last moment. Tickets for the shoot are already on sale on the festival's website.

"The aim of the festival is to bring inspiration and motivation above all. Many teachers today are facing burnout and events like this can help them recharge their batteries. We want the participation in the festival in Litomyšl to be a bit of a reward for the work that teachers do," says David Zandler, director of the Chateau Hill Contributory Organization, which organizes the conference. In addition to lectures and workshops, a less formal programme is also planned for the participants. A non-traditional activity is being prepared for them in the space of the Piarist church, they will get to know each other better during a quick "edu-date", and there will be a social evening with a buffet and a debate black watch.

The festival, which originally started as a one-day seminar for teachers, has been gaining more interest every year. Indeed, participants come from all over the country. Teachers from one school near Cheb have even grown so fond of the festival that they now attend regularly. This year, one third of the capacity was filled on the first day registration opened. Now there are about 20 last places left, but even after they are filled there will be a chance to see the festival. Tickets for selected shows are on sale now. Those who want to can also buy a ticket for all the lectures and discussions in the main hall this year. This year, for the first time, tickets can be purchased electronically directly on the festival website www.nakopnetesvojiskolu.cz.

The festival also includes a marketplace for educational projects and exhibitors. This is a great opportunity to present your projects or products for schools. All exhibitors will be pleased to know that one third of the participants are principals or their representatives.
