Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross

The Baroque Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross was built between 1714 and 1725 by the Italian builder Giovanni Battista Alliprandi. After Alliprandi's death, the completion of the church was taken over by František Maxmilián Kaňka. The church burned down four times in its history and after 1968 it was closed and gradually fell into disrepair. Between 2011 and 2015 the building underwent a complete reconstruction. Thanks to the reconstruction, the church was literally brought back to life. The church has a new exhibition Angels on the Hill and a beautiful view of the city. Today, the church is not only a spiritual place of contemplation, but also an exhibition of religious art and a cultural hall at the same time.

The space of the temple is complemented by contemporary art installations from the workshop of the author duo Václav Cigler, Michal Motyčka.

The temple space is open to the public free of charge during opening hours. In the temple, you can also visit the interactive children's programme "Up to the Angels" and the lookout in the space between the towers on the façade. There is only a fee for the viewpoint - 30 CZK/person.

Opening hours:

September - daily 10 am - 6 pm Fri, Sat 10 am - 11 pm

October - Sat, Sun, holidays 10 am - 6 pm

In September, opening hours are extended until 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. After dark, visitors can admire Václav Cigler's sacred light installations - the Mensa and the laser cross - in the temple area.
