If you visit Litomyšl during the hot summer days, you will certainly appreciate it if you can cool off during a sporting activity. In this case, we recommend visiting the Litomyšl Swimming Pool, which was first opened in 1948. There is a larger swimming pool with diving boards and a slide, as well as a smaller pool, a paddling pool and a 92-metre long water slide. The large pool area is surrounded by a park with manicured lawns and there is also a children's and volleyball court. If you get hungry after a swim or a spree on the water slide and water slide, you can refresh yourself in the restaurant or at the stalls.
Real water lovers and water sports enthusiasts might also be interested in windsurfing and paddleboarding on the Velký Košíř lake near Litomyšl. If you haven't heard of footballgolf before, believe me, you're missing out on a lot and it's time to change that. Can't you imagine a combination of football and golf? It's a great pastime for people of all ages and abilities. The point is to get the soccer ball into the hole with as few strokes as possible. You do this by kicking the ball off the tee and overcoming various obstacles created by terrain, logs, sand or water.
You can play football golf in the aforementioned FotbalPark. Karlos the iguana will be watching over your performance and you can pet him or bring him his favourite dandelions. Of course, there are also excellent refreshments with indoor and outdoor seating and a children's playground with a slide, swings and a bouncy castle.
Cycling and in-line routes in Litomyšl and its surroundings
If you enjoy cycling, we have good news for you. Litomyšl is located on the route of the well-known cycling trail that connects Ústí nad Orlicí and Česká Třebová. The total length of the route, which goes through Hrádek, Sudislav nad Orlicí, Jehnědí, Voděrady, Horní Sloupnice, Řetová, Litomyšl and Kozlov, is 72 kilometres. Since most of the trail is asphalted, roller skating enthusiasts will also find it interesting. Similarly popular is the easy trail between Chocní and Letohrad.
Do you prefer mountain biking and challenging terrain? Head to the Peklák Bike Resort, located just 12 km from Litomyšl on the outskirts of Česká Třebová. You will find more than 16 km of winding trails of varying difficulty, 6 km of pure downhill trails, the "Dechovka" climbing trail and a ski lift. You can also try out the local trainers, thanks to which you can learn to jump on the bike, climb the trails and try riding in the bumps. The renowned Peklák Bike Resort is open from the beginning of May to the end of October and the entrance fee varies according to age and the number of rides on the lift. If you are tempted to visit this cyclist's paradise but don't have a suitable bike and helmet, don't despair. A rental service is available on site.
Our tip: If you are travelling with a bike, you may find the tourist buses for cyclists and pedestrians, which have a regular stop at the bus station in Litomyšl. You can take a trip on one of the 5 routes that operate on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from the end of May to the end of September.

Hiking in Litomyšl and its surroundings
Do you like walking in the fresh air? Take the nature trail on Černá hora, which is suitable for walkers, runners, cyclists and even horse riders. The trail has three circuits (1200 m, 3200 m, 5200 m), through which you will be guided by information boards on botany and zoology.
An attractive path connecting the built-up area with nature - this is Nedošínský háj, located 3 km from Litomyšl. The trail is popular, among other things, for its beautiful view of the town and its surroundings and thanks to its paved surface, cyclists can also enjoy it.
Have you ever been to the Kozlov area? This village, 9 km away from Litomyšl, is inseparably connected with the work of the painter Max Švabinský. If you are interested in art, we highly recommend visiting the Max Švabinský Cottage, where you can see some authentic documents from his life and work. The cottage is located below the top of Kozlov Hill, which reaches 601 metres above sea level. There is also a lookout tower and a guesthouse with a restaurant.
Toulovec's Maštale Nature Reserve is also worth a visit. It is a hidden rock town, which is made up of many passages, caves and holes, which bear names such as Mouse Hole, Bell or Kitchen. Right next to Toulovecy Maštale there are other sandstone formations - the so-called Maštale Městské. Both picturesque areas, which are only 20 km from Litomyšl, are associated with many legends and are surrounded by an extensive network of beautiful cycle paths. You should not miss the nearby Toulovec Lookout Tower.
If you like lookout towers, you will be pleased with one more tip. 15 km from Litomyšl lies Andrlův chlum, a peak above the town of Ústí nad Orlicí. The iron tower itself, which is a local landmark, is often referred to as the "Silver Beauty".
